For many years now, we've been reaching out to the young children and women of the village of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa. We have a deep desire to work hand in hand with the non-profit organization Zimele USA and we have been since 2013.
In the Zulu Tribes' language, 'Zimele' means to 'Stand on ones two feet". With this idea of self sustaining ones life with tools, we have been supporting this organization with rescources for the women and children.
Zimele wants to confront the root cause of poverty and to remove the barrier to self sufficiency to women of the impoverish and many aids stricken villages.
There is so much more to share with you on how we at Piccolo New York is involved with helping this village, so we hope you can follow us as we continue to share updates with you.

From fashion runways to military uniforms. the scarf has been a staple in men’s wardrobefor over 2,000 years. Some men may not be comfortable with or used to wearing accessories, but scarves provide flair as well as protection from cold weather- and they can most definitely be manly! Winter is a great season for men to take their style up a notch by highlighting their look with a scarf. Make sure to find one that’s a right fit, not to short or thin. As for the material, you can’t go wrong with cashmere.
Piccolo New York wishes you a very Merry Christmas! Our sincerest thanks and warmest wishes for the Holiday Season. We're coming to you with fresh designs and new styles in the New Year! See you in 2016~
There’s nothing like a good cup of coffee while wrapped up in cashmere on a cold December night. With the help of Cafe de cupping, we were able to bring together our favorite things, coffee and cashmere, for a special pop up event. Those who stopped by were able to enjoy a cup of the best coffee around while doing some quiet shopping- a rare opportunity during the holiday season! Shopping tip #1: when in doubt, give the gift of cashmere. Thank you to everyone who came out and special thanks to Cafe du cupping for collaborating with us.
Winter Pop Up
Piccolo New York was one of 38 vendors that came together for a special holiday pop-up at a beautiful SoHo loft. The venue was transformed into a winter oasis filled with handmade jewelry, homemade candles, velvety sweets & treats, and our cozy cashmere. What made this event really special was the unique opportunity to mingle with some talented designers and artists, while picking up the perfect holiday gift. We had a blast and loved meeting new and old friends!
Here at Piccolo New York we want our brand to be more than great quality and timeless designs. We are firm believers in giving back, and with every purchase, you’re taking part in social change by helping charitable organizations grow.
Once such organization we are proud to support is the non-profit, Hearts of Gold, which aims to empower and educate women, as well as, provide tools to help homeless children and mothers become self-sufficient. Hearts of Gold was founded by our dear friend, Deborah Koenigsberger, after an encounter with a young woman and her child sleeping in a cardboard box in a New York City park, many years ago. This organization has since transformed and revitalized the NYC community through various programs and shelters. HoG works to improve the lives of hundreds of women by providing housing assistance, scholarships for further education, job training, as well as tutoring and after school activities for teens and children. We are honored to be a small part of the great things being done in the community through this organization. Please click the link below to learn more about Hearts of Gold. Also check out their website for upcoming events and other ways you can help!

We wish we could wear cozy cashmere all year round, but what to do with your cashmere during the warmer months? Here are some tips on how to store your cashmere during the off-seasons so that they maintain all the qualities we love about them.
- Dust, vacuum, and wipe your storage area- whatever you need to do to make sure its clean and damp free.
- Line the area with anti-moth paper or cedar balls and remember to replace each season as they lose their strength over time.
- Neatly fold and wrap your cashmere in acid-free tissue paper.
- Finally, place in a breathable bag to keep it extra moth proof, but check the bag every so often for condensation.
The storage area should be well-aired and your stored items should be kept away from direct sunlight. By taking these steps, you can ensure that by the next winter your cashmere will look and feel as good as new!
Piccolo New York was privileged to be a part of ZIMELE GALA 2015 last month. It’s always an honor to support this organization that empowers women and helps them “stand on their own two feet”! By providing the tools and resources to help these women hone their skills, we are helping them becoming self- sufficient. We hope these small efforts will have a big impact in families and communities of South Africa, and look forward to more opportunities to partner with Zimele.
